apiculture - athleticwear
During my first professional internship over the course of the summer of 2016, I was tasked with creating a collection of youthful and vibrant activewear for KaMIT Apparel in Richardson, TX. My superior and the owner of the company, Dorris Bogus, was looking to bring a fresh edge to the brand and to hopefully bring in some new customers as a result.
Inspired by the disappearance of the honeybees and the trend of using mesh fabrics in activewear, Apiculture was the brain child of this endeavor. I was personally tasked with designing the collection, executing the technical flats, creating the patterns in Gerber PDS, and producing samples from said patterns. With the help of my friend and co-worker, Elizabeth Jones, we completed all fourteen garments in the two months allotted to us. It was a whirlwind of work, but the results were satisfying and resulted in a handful of my designs being picked up and sold in boutiques across the south.
